Owls explainer animation

Owls Foundation

We were commissioned by The Owls Foundation to create a short film to promote their publication ‘Breakthrough – From Innovation to Impact’.

Whilst the pubication contained complex academic ideas and in-depth discussions, it was important that the film offered a brief and accurate summary that was accessible. Understanding, distilling and communicating the complex ideas was exactly the sort of task we like to get our teeth into!

Initially we considered producing a presenter led film but after further discussion and some ideas development, an animated film was considered the most appropriate option. In this way, complex ideas could be represented graphically to provide clarity to a “cold” audience.

We began by writing a visual script that included a simple voiceover and visual devices to explain the points. We created the bespoke designs entirely from scratch. Everything from the industrial landscape to flying rocket was created to order with close attention to detail. Shapes, movement, textures and colour schemes were carefully considered in order to create the best pace for effective storytelling and deliver a clear message.

“Thoughtful advice, outstanding work and a determined and reliable approach, Zest were the perfect solution for our video build. They uncovered the essence of the Breakthrough Methodology to our broad audience, enabling them to gain a better understanding of major milestones of innovations and breakthrough.”
